There are two kinds of neck flanges: neck butt welding flanges and neck flat welding flanges. There are some differences between them. So what is the difference between neck butt welding flanges and neck flat welding flanges? Let's learn about it.
I. Introduction of neck butt welding flange and neck flat welding flange
1. Neck butt welding flange refers to a flange with a tapered neck and is welded to the cylinder or pipe, which is an integrated flange.
2. The full name of the neck flat welding flange is the neck flat welded steel pipe flange, which extends the steel pipe and pipe fittings to the flange and connects to the equipment or pipe through the corner weld.
II. The difference between neck butt welding flange and neck flat welding flange
1. Different forms of welding:
The weld with a neck butt welding flange can be ray-deted, while the flat-welded flange with a neck does not. The welding form of neck butt welding flange and pipe is ring weld, while the welding form of flat welding flange and pipe is angle weld. Butt welding is a butt ring weld, and flat welding is a two angled ring weld. The difference between the two is that the welding seam with neck butt welding flange and the takeover connection belongs to Class B seams, while the weld seam with neck flat welding flange and takeover connection belongs to Class C seam.
2. Different materials:
The material of the neck butt welding flange is usually made of forged steel by machine. The material of the flat welding flange with a neck is made of ordinary steel plates with a thickness that meets the requirements.
3. The nominal pressure is different:
The nominal pressure of the neck welding flange is 1-25MPa, and the grade is relatively high. The nominal pressure of the flat welding flange with neck is 0.6-4MPa. Compared with the welding flange with the neck, the pressure level is lower, and the ability to adapt to the pressure will be slightly lower.
